Harold Younkins MacCartney ’23

HAROLD, WHO WAS born in Butler, Penn., on Dec. 21, 1901, died June 6, 1988. Mac lived in Pittsburgh; Washington, D.C.; and Titusville, Penn. He graduated from Titusville High School. He joined the Class of 1923 as a sophomore transfer from Washington and Jefferson College. At Princeton he belonged to the Fine Arts Club, Whig Hall, and Polity Club. He managed the freshman track team and joined Key and Seal.

Harold said yes to life. On graduation he spent three years in the Far East for the Standard Oil Co., then went around the world, stopping in the Philippines, Dutch East Indies, Ceylon, Egypt, and Europe. He later graduated from Yale Law School. After a time out for more pleasure travel, Harold opened his law office in Nyack, N.Y. For the 60th reunion of the Class, Mac reported he was the senior partner with MacCartney, MacCartney and MacCartney.
