Laurence Walker ’70

Larry died after a difficult fight with cancer Nov. 14, 2015. While at Princeton, his baritone voice memorably enriched the Footnotes and parties at Quad. A highly accomplished engineer, he followed his bachelor’s of science in electrical engineering with a Ph.D. from MIT. Larry had a distinguished career managing the creation and marketing of networks and computer systems for large technology companies, including Hewlett Packard and Digital, then eventually his own firm. Always generous with his time and wisdom, he served as a director, expert adviser, and angel investor for a large range of technology companies. He was board director at his alma mater, Hopkins Grammar School in Connecticut, and at Star of Austin Rodeo College Scholarship Endowments. A very active Princeton alumnus, he served as a schools committee interviewer and on the advisory committee of the electrical engineering department for 15 years, many of them as its chair.

Larry is survived by his wife, Brenda; children Karin Moskal, Courtney Hendricson, Paula, Trent Samford, and Tyler Browder; nine grandchildren; and his brothers, Allen and John. With them, we remember the warmth of his voice and personality, and mourn his passing.
