In 1917, young paleontologist Winifred Goldring discovers that the construction site of a new reservoir in Gilboa, New York, contains ancient fossils from a key stage in evolutionary history — but the reservoir is completed, and the fossils are buried. Nearly eighty years and two generations later, a disaffected New York City doorman tells his own story, still bearing the wounds of Gilboa’s last days. The Door-Man (Fomite Press) blends fact with fiction in a compelling story of the nested histories within our families and landscapes.
