(Atria) Ruth Saunders’ parents were killed in a car accident when she was 3. As a young woman, Ruth moves with her grandmother to Hollywood, with dreams of creating the perfect sitcom, “The Next Best Thing.” Her grandmother works as an extra and finds a new husband along the way, while Ruth finds nothing is easy in Hollywood entertainment, even after her show is greenlit. Weiner is a best-selling author of Good in Bed, Then Came You, and In Her Shoes, which was made into a film. She also was co-creator and co-executive producer of the ABC Family sitcom, State of Georgia.
