In Response to: Gregg Lange ’70 [6]

Gregg Lange - I thoroughly enjoyed your 4/6 Rally ‘Round the Cannon article on Wilder Penfield. As a surgeon, I have long been aware of Penfield’s contributions to neuroanatomy, and I had visited the Montreal Neurological Institute as recently as 2016 (on the ancient hospital campus overlooking McGill). His work in neurosurgery is legend, and was well-detailed in Luke Dittrich’s book Patient H.M. I always assumed Penfield was a native Canadian. His portrait, as well as those of other giants in neurology, overlooks the entry vestibule of the Institute. No way had I imagined this great scientist as a Princeton student playing and coaching football. Thanks for the rest of the story.
