The new home of University Health Services will be named the Frist Health Center in recognition of a major gift from Dr. Thomas Frist Jr.
“This extraordinary gift from Tommy Frist has enabled us to reimagine the University health facility as a place of welcome that offers a comprehensive approach to student health and well-being,” President Christopher Eisgruber ’83 said in a Nov. 8 University release.
The new center, under construction near Guyot Hall, will be more than twice as large as the McCosh Health Center and will incorporate Eno Hall, which is being renovated.
Frist is a physician and co-founder of HCA Healthcare, one of the nation’s largest health-care providers. With his family, including brother and former Sen. Bill Frist ’74, he made the gift that established Princeton’s Frist Campus Center in 2001.
President Christopher Eisgruber ’83 has been elected vice chair of the Association of American Universities (AAU) board of directors and, during the 2024-25 school year, will serve as chair. The appointment took effect on Oct. 31. The AAU — composed of 71 leading research universities in the United States and Canada — strives to transform lives through education, research, and innovation.
“I look forward to helping ensure that the vital national role of great research universities is understood and appreciated among policymakers,” Eisgruber said in the University’s announcement.
Larry Fife Giberson ’23 was sentenced to two months in prison and six months of supervised release on home detention and must pay $2,100 in restitution and fines for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, while he was a student at Princeton.
Giberson was present in the courtroom Nov. 1 when his sentence for civil disorder — a felony charge that carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison — was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Carl J. Nichols. Prosecutors requested 11 months of incarceration and three years of supervised release, while the defense team pushed for home detention. Giberson, who graduated with a degree in politics in May, pleaded guilty in July and waived his right to appeal the conviction.
