Remembering a Friend

Finding this just now, as I reflected on the very unhappy/lonely single semester in the fall of ’67 at Andover. I am profoundly saddened that I never got the chance to know Romerio beyond that time in our lives as sophomore football players. Ironically, and sadder yet, I never approached him after the games that we played in college against one another; I was probably too embarrassed about not riding it out in a place that made me feel like a stranger in a strange land.

Sadder yet, living in Orlando since July '04, I was in Tallahassee several times between 2013 and 2016 when my son was a high school pole vaulter. How I wish I had known and been able to reconnect. To his Tiger friends and classmates I send my deepest sympathies. Even as a fellow 15-year-old, he was a wonderful friend and source of support!
