GUSTY PAINE died on May 9, 1993, at his home in Hobe Sound, Fla., where he had lived since 1973.

At the time of his death, he was very active in local affairs, serving as a trustee of the Jupiter Medical Center, chairman of the board of adjustment of Jupiter Island, and as a member of the board of Barnett Banks, Inc.

After preparing at St. Mark's, Gusty majored in modern languages and was a member of Ivy Club. After graduation, he served in the navy for four years as a lieutenant. Subsequently he joined the family business, The New York & Pennsylvania Co., manufacturers of book and writing paper, becoming president in 1960. He moved on to the securities business in 1963 as a v.p. and director of Clark Dodge & Co., a member of the New York Stock Exchange. He also served on the boards of a number of companies before moving to Hobe Sound.

To his daughters, Abby, Alix, and Helen, the class extends its heartfelt sympathies.
