Billy died Dec. 9, 2015, in Durham, N.C.

He was born Feb. 19, 1946, in Evanston, Ill., and graduated from New Trier High School, where he was the captain of the swim team. Billy started Princeton with our class in 1964, but later transferred to the University of Evansville and earned a degree in English in 1968.

While living in Winnetka, Ill., Billy worked as a salesman and stockbroker in Chicago. He was an active member of the local community theater and a devoted Sunday-school teacher and choir member at Christ Church Winnetka. Billy and his wife moved to Durham in 2005, and they lived there until his death. He was known for wearing bow ties and loved fireworks, Frisbee golf, and his family.

Billy is survived by Susie, his wife of 45 years; their children Peter, John, Andrew, and Katharine; five grandchildren; three siblings; his mother-in-law; and 11 nieces and nephews. The class extends its deepest sympathy to them all.
