Body

David Mattern "Itchy" Jones died of lung cancer Mar. 7, 1995, in Marlton, N.J.

Born in Altoona, the son of Kathleen and the late Benjamin C. '16, Itchy came to Princeton from Andover. He joined Tiger Inn. After graduation, he served in the Marine Corps, rising to the rank of captain. After military service, Itchy entered Penn Law School, graduating in 1962.

Itchy, a resident of Cherry Hill, N.J., practiced law in Philadelphia and at his death was the senior partner in Jones & Pilarska. Itchy's specialty was Eastern European law, both before and after the collapse of the Iron Curtain. He represented governments and individuals, particularly heirs of estates in American courts. In 1991 Itchy was on the U.S. delegation at the Moscow Conference on Intl. Law and Economics.

Itchy served on Andover's alumni council, Tiger's grad board, and the board (and as president) of the Princeton Club of Philadelphia. For several years, he was secretary of his father's Class of '16, and he was serving on the class's 40th-reunion committee at the time of his death.

Itchy is survived by his widow, Sandi; two stepsons; his mother; his sister, Kathleen Gofton; and his brother Benjamin '53. The class extends its condolences to them.
