Eugene Orr Harbeck Jr. ’48
EUGENE HARBECK died at his home in Grand Haven, Mich., on May 5, 1992.
Moose, as he was known to us way back when, was born in Grand Haven and lived his entire life there, He went to Cranbrook School and joined us in Sept. 1944. With time out for service in the Navy, he graduated in 1949 with high honors in history and Phi Beta Kappa. He was a member of Terrace.
After graduating with honors from the Wharton School, he joined the Michigan Brass Co., serving in a variety of positions in sales, personnel, and management. He was president at the time of his joining the Old Kent Bank, in 1967. At the bank lie was V.P. and trust officer, until his death.
Moose was a vestryman of St. John's Episcopal Church, He was active in many civic affairs, including Rotary, school board, library board, and Ottawa County Mental Health Board. He was past president of the economic development committee and a member of the Holland Kennel Club.
His wife of 42 years, Sarah, survives him, as do daughter Elizabeth Voshel and sons Peter, Thomas, William, and John, and seven grandchildren. The Class is saddened at Moose's death and offers its deepest sympathy to his family.
