Frederick A. Wolff ’42

FRED DIED Apr. 4, 1994, in Wilmington (Del.) Hospital, after a short illness. He spent 34 years with DuPont, retiring as a senior research engineer in 1982.

Coming to Princeton from the Tower Hill School, Fred majored in chemical engineering. During the war, he worked on chemicalwarfare projects at M.I.T., receiving an M.S. in 1943. After several years in research at Standard Oil of California and Hydrocarbon Research, Inc., he joined DuPont in 1948. He worked in the polymerproducts department at the experimental station and also in marketing plastics department.

Fred had biding love for singing and had participated in various choral groups, as well as the Wilmington Opera Society, of which he was a past president. He sang in the St. Albarts Episcopal Church choir, which he directed from 19621985. He was also very actively involved with the board of the Wilmington Music School, as a longtime member and past president.

To his widow, Sally; his daughter, Catherine; and his three grandchildren, we offer our sympathy.
