George E. Oakley Jr. ’42
GEORGE DIED Aug. 27, 1994, in Rowayton, Conn., his home for many years, after a short illness. George joined the class from Albany Academy, but left before graduating. After serving in the Army Air Corps in the Southwest Pacific Theater during WWII, he returned to the N.Y.C. area, where he spent his entire business career in the paperboard industry. After serving as v.p. of sales for the Riegel Paper Corp,, he became a director of the Federal Paper Co. in Montvale, N.J. He retired in 1986 as sr. v.p. and general manager of its forest products and recycled-board division. He relinquished his position as a director in 1988.
To his widow, Carol; his daughter, Barbara; his son, George E. III; and his two grandchildren, the class extends its profound sympathies.
