Hollis Wooster Smith ’45

Body

HOLLY SMITH died Sept. 2, 1991, in Beaufort, S.C. Holly entered Princeton with a small Loomis contingent that consisted of Beany Collins, Eginton, Winnie Smith, and Holly. Holly's childhood was spent in Stamford, Conn., where he was raised with his brother, Richard H. Smith '42.

Holly's Princeton career was interrupted by service in the Pacific with the Fourth Army Amphibious Brigade. He saw combat service in New Guinea, the Solomons, the Philippines, and Japan. In 1946, he married Dorothy Lee Gilbert of Williamsburg, Ky., and they had a daughter, Laura Lee. Holly spent his early career with KlearVu Corp. For many years, he was an independent manufacturer's agent, living for a time in Connecticut before moving to South Carolina. In 1967, just prior to our 25th reunion, Holly married Patricia Chambers, who survives. The class extends its sympathy to the family.
