James P. Roberts ’48
JIM ROBERTS died Mar. 10, 1992, at his home in Haverford, Penn.
Jim came to us by way of Haverford School and a stint in the Navy with the 115th Seabee Battalion in the Pacific. He graduated with honors in economics and was in Cottage. At various times he roomed with Bob Wolcott, Sam Baird, Jim Hardy, and Angus Peyton. He went on to the Wharton School for his M.B.A.
Jim spent his entire business career in banking. He began with the Federal Reserve Bank in Philadelphia, was president of Fidelity international Bank in New York for three years, and was with the Fidelity Bank of Philadelphia for 28 years, retiring in 1981 as executive V.P.
Jim was a deacon and trustee of the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church and on the board of the Y.M.C.A. He was especially committed to the Ludington Library, Bryn Mawr, and served for many years as treasurer, He was active at the Merion Cricket Club and the Merion Golf Club. His great love was sailing, especially competing in ocean races.
To his widow, Carol, sons James Jr. and Frank, and daughter Yardley Jenkins, the Class extends its deepest sympathy and shares in their loss.
