Born in Memphis, Tenn., John prepared for Princeton at Milton Academy, where he was an ABC (A Better Chance) scholarship winner. John was always proud of his longtime affiliation with ABC.

He graduated from Duke Law School in May 1986, and subsequently became a federal law clerk in Memphis. John was admitted to the Texas State Bar and worked in a large law firm until he moved to Washington, D.C., and then to Atlanta, where he continued his law and business practice.

John was active in his community and a member of the Providence Missionary Baptist Church. John is survived by Ursula, his loving wife of 23 years; children Jack and Josh; mother Joan; and brother Jerold. The class extends sincere condolences to them all.
