Rand Granville Carnahan ’41

Body

RAND CARNAHAN died of heart disease in Fresh Meadows, Long Island, Feb. 5,1991. He is survived by his widow, Olivia McDaniel Carnahan; a son, Randy Jr.; a daughter, Martha; five grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild. A deceased brother Vance was in the Class of 1938.

We missed the chance to know much of Rand because he left Princeton well before graduation, eventually joining Pan American Airways, where he had a 37year career, retiring in 1980 as director of statistics. He and Olivia traveled over most of Pan Am's wide world for business and pleasure. At home they were active in church and hospital charity drives.

Among Rand's special distinctions was his being directly descended from James Carnahan, Princeton's leader during the three decades of 18Z31854the longest presidential tenure in her history,

We extend deep sympathy to Olivia and the Carnahan family.
