Richard K. Ahrendt ’51
Dick was born April 20, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio, to Roswell and Marguerite Baker Ahrendt.
He came to us from DeVilbiss High School and majored in psychology. He roomed with Jack Kallop and Bill Park and belonged to Cannon Club. Dick went on to earn an MBA in marketing and advertising from Ohio State, and then he served in the Army for two years in Frankfurt, Germany.
He had a long career in advertising, retiring at age 70 from Reece Brothers — lithographers in Northwood, Ohio — where he worked in graphic design.
Dick was a lifelong sports fan and in particular loved the Toledo Mud Hens baseball team. If you want to contribute to a fund in his memory, you are asked to donate to the Helping Hens Fund of the Toledo Community Foundation, 300 Madison Ave., Suite 1300, Toledo, Ohio 43604. The fund supports the charitable activities of the Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club. Dick was also a longtime parishioner at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Maumee, Ohio.
Dick died Jan. 31, 2015, and is survived by his children, Deni, Dawn, and Laura; and grandchildren Craig, Chelsea, Cassie, Jeffery, and Megan. He is predeceased by his wife, Joan; their son, Richard; and his brother, William.
