Woody earned his medical degree at Northwestern University and completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic. Following four years in the Army, he relocated to Bainbridge Island, Wash., to head the physical medicine and rehabilitation department at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, thereafter going into private practice in Bremerton. A lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, he did not live quite long enough to enjoy their 2016 championship.
Woody is survived by sons Chris, Drew, and Jeremy.
