Steffen Samuel Brown ’36

STEFF DIED Mar. 7, 1990, just days before his 76th birthday. He had homes in Dayton, Ohio, and Sanibel, Fla.

He prepared at the Oakwood School in Dayton. At Princeton, he majored in electrical engineering, graduated magna cum laude, and was a member of Campus.

He was retired chairman and president of the Dyna Corp., formerly the Brown-Brockmeyer Co., chairman of National Gear Corp., and chairman of the Steffen Brown Foundation, a private philanthropic organization.

He was a member of the Engineers Club of Dayton, and the Moraine C.C., past president of the Dayton Princeton Cub, former regional chairman for Princeton's A.G. in his area, and member of the Princeton Club of Southwest Florida. He was also active with Dayton's Hearing and Speech Center and the Cerebral Palsy Center. He enjoyed golf and sailing.

Steff is survived by his widow, Marianna Kuntz Brown, whom he married in 1938; daughters Carolyn B. Griffith and Marianna B. Young; sons Steffen A. II and Martin K. ("Bo"); 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Here was a man of great capacity who was dedicated to his family, community, and Princeton. He will be remembered with affection by all his friends.
