William Van Beekman Alstyne III ’55

Body

BILL DIED after a heart attack on Feb. 18, 1991.

Bill came to our Class after graduating from Phillips Academy Andover. While there he was active in hockey (voted most valuable player), lacrosse, and soccer. At Princeton he majored in biology, was a member of Tiger Inn, and was varsity hockey goalie.

After Princeton, Bill attended the Faculty of Medicine at McGill, where he was one of the most popular members of the Class. He spent his internship at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in Bermuda. After finishing an externship at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, Bill completed a residency in radiology at the same hospital. At the time of his passing, he was chief of radiology at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Kingston, Ontario.

Bill married wife Ann and they had three wonderful childrenKatherine, Tim, and Elizabeth. They have now all finished university and graduate school.

TO Ann, the children, grandchildren, Bill's mother and father, Bill '27, brother Hugh '56; sisters Mary and Ann ("Horich"), our entire Class sends its deepest sympathy. We will sorely miss this outstanding member of our Class.
