Zachariah D. Blackistone III ’31
ZACHARIAH D. BLACKISTONE 111, 84, died at his home in Chevy Chase, Md., on July 25, 1992.
He attended Mercersburg Academy before entering Princeton. During his freshman and sophomore years, he roomed with Bud Pope.
He left Princeton in 1929, returning to Washington, D.C., where he attended George Washington Univ. He entered his family's florist business in 1933. He joined the Army Reserve in the 1930s, and served on active duty in WWII. He remained in the Army Reserve until the 1960s, when he retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel. In 1964 he opened his own florist business, Demmie Blackistone and Associates, from which he retired in 1984.
The Class sends its sympathies to his wife of 58 years, Harriet; their three children, David, Susan; and Stephen; and six grandchildren.
