Powerlines (NFES Publishing) follows the life of accomplished attorney David Powers as he reflects on his experiences with privilege, education, global movement, and changes in American society. The memoir begins with Powers’ family immigration story from Europe in search of economic opportunity and leading to his upbringing in a prominent Washington, D.C. family. After graduating from Princeton and the University of Virginia School of Law, Powers served on the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and opened the first Baker and Boots firm in Asia, moving his family to Hong Kong in 2005. Since returning to the U.S., Powers has lived a quiet life in Corsicana, Texas with his wife and continues to consult with private equity firms in Dallas. Powerlines leaves readers with a rich reflection point to decide whether the privileges that propelled Powers to succeed will be available to future generations in America’s ever-changing society.
