John died August 26, 2012, in Greenville, S.C., four months after being diagnosed with melanoma, which had metastasized to the brain and other organs.

John came to Princeton from Rye Country Day in his hometown of Rye, N.Y. He was active athletically on the freshman baseball team and then multiple years playing rugby. John’s classmates remember his tenacity, positive spirit, and hospitality in bringing people to his home. He majored in history and belonged to Cannon.

After graduation he earned an MBA from Wharton and then started his professional career in corporate America. He worked for General Mills in Minneapolis (where he enjoyed ice fishing), Hood Dairy in Boston, and then Gallo Wineries in Modesto, Calif., (where he played on a corporate travel softball team).

John and a colleague operated a boat tour business for primarily Asian tourists in Maui for a number of years. He returned to the mainland and worked in Greenville, S.C., for Sonic Automotive at the end of his career.

John had no dependents. The class extends belated condolences to his brother, Dr. Craig Moore, and the rest of his family and friends.
