Princeton lost one of its most loyal sons when Lenny Lyons died on June 14, 1989, in Baton Rouge after a lengthy illness. Lenny was born in Rochester, N.Y., on April 10, 1931, and came to Princeton from Bronxville High School. At Princeton he majored in politics and was a member of Cannon Club. Lenny was a standout athlete, playing on the great football teams of the early 1950s and putting the shot for the track team.
After graduation, Lenny served with the U.S. Marine Corps. He later became a successful salesman and was named "salesman of the year" many times. Lenny's great loyalties were to God, his family, his country, and Princeton. Throughout his life, Lenny kept in close contact with his classmates, and urged many young people to come to Princeton. A man of great strength of character, Lenny was also a remarkably caring and gentle person. The class extends its heartfelt sympathies to his widow, Dottie Sue; to his daughter, Kimberly; to his son, Jeffrey; and to his three stepsons, Richard, Mitchell, and Christopher.
