PAW’s policy for submitting comments and proposed essays
PAW invites readers to participate in thoughtful and respectful dialogue by sharing their opinions, perspectives, and reflections about PAW’s content, the Princeton community, or issues of interest to Princetonians. There are two avenues for this: comments and essays.
Comments appear in the “Inbox” section and are not to be more than 500 words for online consideration and 250 words for print. Essays can range from 500-800 words.
The views expressed in comments and essays are the author’s and do not reflect the opinions and beliefs of PAW or Princeton University.
If you would like to write an essay, please email a brief proposal or outline to editor Peter Barzilai s’97 at pbarzilai@princeton.edu. Your essay will be subject to the same level of fact checking and editing for content as other PAW articles.
If you would like to submit a comment, please do so at paw.princeton.edu or email it to paw@princeton.edu. All comments will be reviewed prior to posting. Most comments will be posted if they are civil, topical, factual, and of interest to the Princeton community, though decisions made by PAW editors are by their nature subjective. By submitting a comment for posting on PAW, you agree to comply with these rules:
1) All comments must include your name and Princeton affiliation (class year if alumnus/a, parent, spouse, faculty, student, etc.) if applicable.
2) You agree not to submit any material that reasonably could be considered to be abusive, uncivil, hateful, threatening, or a personal attack.
3) You agree not to submit any comment that:
- is libelous or defamatory.
- misrepresents a published work, including a PAW article or reader comment.
- is obscene, pornographic, or advocates violent or illegal acts.
- violates a person’s right to privacy.
- degrades others.
- impersonates others.
- infringes on the intellectual property of others.
- is commercial or promotional.
4) You agree that you are fully responsible for the content that you submit and understand that PAW and Princeton University are not responsible for content submitted by any user.
5) You agree not to post the same comment on multiple stories.
6) You give PAW the permission to use the content you submit in other forms – for example, in reporting an article or in the Inbox section of the magazine.
7) You understand that PAW reserves the right to edit comments — for example, for length or spelling — or to remove comments after posting. However, most comments will be either approved and posted, or denied posting if viewed as inappropriate.
