The San Francisco Bay Area quintet, Fortune Smiles, featuring Dan Krimm ’78 on electric bass, Gary Monheit ’80 on piano, Ted Nirgiotis on guitar, Leonard Sklar on tenor sax, and Matt Willis on drums, has just released its first album. The band draws on its members’ experience in a wide variety of musical forms, including classical, progressive, rock, and Caribbean and Latin jazz to create a unique and modern eclectic jazz sound. Monheit has performed with the Nate Birkey Quintet. His compositions for dance and theatre have been performed in the United States and Europe.
