The May 12 From the Archives photo is more likely from the junior prom, which was a big deal in the 1950s. A name band (such as Lester Lanin) was brought in to Dillon Gym, and attire typically was formal. The senior prom, even in those days as I recall, was the Monday night before Commencement, was not formal, and included family, siblings, and friends. In 1962 it was outdoors in Henry Courtyard and got rained on. Hence, Jadwin seems a good plan. There certainly would not have been a “prom queen” at the senior prom, and I do not recall any such event at the junior proms I attended in the late 1950s.
