Although Charlie was born in Tennessee and died Feb. 13, 2016, in Cincinnati, he came to Princeton from the Woodberry Forest School in Virginia, and was remembered at his funeral as “a Virginia gentleman … a man of restraint and duty and a man who was truly concerned for others.”

At Princeton, Charlie was a member of Colonial Club and on the staff of the Tiger. After graduation he worked briefly at a bank in Charlottesville, Va., and then served in the Army in Korea.

Returning to Virginia, he earned an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and then went to New York to work for the Hanover Bank. Later on he moved to Cincinnati to work with classmate Will Gregg and stayed on to work in advertising.

In recent years he enjoyed serving as webmaster for the class. Charlie and Carolyn, his wife of 41 years, enjoyed travel and gardening and bridge with friends. Charlie, Will, Pierce Lonergan, and their wives hosted a very successful mini-reunion in Cincinnati.
