Dr. Alyea and I became friends and stayed in touch via letters until his death in 1996. I was a high school chemistry teacher. Thanks to Dr. Alyea’s dynamic personality, which I partially took on, I became a better chem teacher and students for the last 12 years of my career benefitted from this.
