Remembering a Coworker

I worked for Mr. Bahr as his secretary when he was vice president of First Federal. I was in the mortgage department, and he asked me to join him. Fully offended, I replied that I was a college graduate, and certainly not! He said, “I want you to help me become president,” and I’d like to think I did! I wrote all his speeches for the S&L Institute. He was a joy to know and I adored him. He graduated from Princeton the year I was born.

When he was vice president, he would occasionally take me to lunch at Schraft’s He would have a blonde Dubonnet on the rocks, and I, white wine. When he was promoted, he graduated to a martini, and I to the Dubonnet! Only place I’ve ever seen it!
