(Johns Hopkins University Press) With a combined experience of over 100 years in studying squirrels, these four scientists have come together to produce the first comprehensive examination of all 285 species in the family Sciuridae worldwide. Each species is described in depth, and photographs and colorful range maps provide additional documentation. Thorington is a curator of mammals at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History.
