Charles A. Zanes Jr. ’55

Body

CHARLES DIED Sept. 19, 1990, in Douglas, Ariz. He was born in Westchester County, N.Y., and grew up in Monroe, Mich. He did not complete his undergraduate degree at Princeton, but transferred to the Univ. of Toledo, where he received his bachelor's and supported his college education with an R.O.T.C. scholarship.

After graduating, he served as a pilot in the Marines. His widow, Mary Beth, indicated that Princeton was always a significant part of Chuck's life, and that he spoke with great pride and affection about his time as a student at Princeton, and followed the news of the class and the university with great interest.

After his military service, Chuck joined Ford Motor Co. He moved from management to entrepreneurship by working as a Ford Lincoln Mercury dealer in Douglas from 1968-88. Throughout his career, he became increasingly active in the business and civic affairs of his community.

He is survived by his widow, Mary Beth, and his sons Charles and Douglas. To them and to those who knew Chuck, the class extends its condolences.
