Dayton Tyler Kieswetter ’42

Body

Dayton T. Kieswetter died Jan. 4, 2009, in Montecito, Calif.

Tony prepared at the Lawrenceville School. At Princeton he was on the editorial staff of The Daily Princetonian, played freshman and JV hockey, and was a member of Cottage Club. He majored in biology.

At the end of his junior year Tony left Princeton to enter the University of Pennsylvania Medical School. After receiving his medical degree and postgraduate training at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York, he served in the Army Medical Corps as a physician at Walter Reed Hospital.

After his discharge as a captain, Tony started an internal medicine practice in The Oranges, N.J. He became president of the medical staff of the Hospital Center at Orange and an associate professor of medicine at the New Jersey College of Medicine. He also took time to play golf and tennis and to ski, swim, and sail with his wife, Ruth, and their three sons.

In 1970 the family moved to Santa Barbara, where Tony continued practicing medicine. His years there were spent in full appreciation of the friendly atmosphere, the wonderful weather, and the recreational opportunities.

Ruth predeceased Tony. To his sons Dayton Tyler Jr., Kent, and Jonathan and their families, the class sends its sympathy.
