GEORGE E. SWEAZEY, retired Patton Professor of Homiletics at Princeton Theological Seminary, died Jan. 23, 1992, at age 86. A native of Salt Lake City, he graduated from Westminster College (Fulton, Md.) in 1927, earned his bachelor of divinity degree from Princeton Seminary and his master of arts degree from Princeton University, both in 1930, and earned his doctor of philosophy degree from the University of Berlin in 1931 He was ordained to the Presbyterian Ministry in 1932 and served pastorates in several states in the period 1932 to 1971. He was then appointed to the faculty of Princeton Seminary as professor of homiletics, serving until his retirement in 1975. Subsequently he served several interim ministries in Presbyterian churches. During his years of parish ministry, Dr. Sweazey served the Presbyterian Church as secretary of the Board of National Missions and as moderator of the General Assembly. He wrote extensively and was a delegate to the World Council of Reformed Churches and the National Council of Churches. He received six honorary degrees in career. He is survived by his widow, Mary Sweazey; two daughters; a son; five grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. Profound sympathy is extended to, the loved ones of this eminent churchman,
