Harry R. Perley Jr. ’50

Bob died Jan. 26, 2009, in Westfield, N.J.  

He was born in New York City and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, N.Y. At Princeton, where his father was in the Class of 1920, he studied basic engineering, was in the Westminster Fellowship, and belonged to Cloister Inn. After graduation, he joined the Army, attended OCS as an engineer, and spent a year as a second lieutenant in Korea.  

Bob started his civilian career with Union Carbide. In 1965, he joined Mobil Oil and with his wife, Eileen, settled in Westfield. In 1984, he was assigned to the startup of a polyethylene resin plant in Saudi Arabia, which also provided Eileen and Bob with exciting travel experiences.  

After returning to the Unites States, he retired in 1987. Golf, tennis, bridge, travel, mini-reunions, winters in Naples, Fla., and family filled his retirement days.  

We extend our sympathy to Eileen, his wife of 57 years; children Doug ’75, Beth, and Dave; and four grandchildren.
