Henry L. Shaw ’35

Body

Born in Trenton, Hank graduated from Princeton High School. He lived in Witherspoon freshman year and at home sophomore year, after which he left college. During World War II, Hank proudly served with the Air Force, rising to the rank of staff sergeant.

His business career concluded in 1998, when he retired as export manager of Dresser Corp. He and his then-wife, Ethel, moved to Lancaster, where he became engaged in a number of nonprofit organizations, including the Lancaster Regional Medical Center and Lancaster County Office of Aging, as well as reading to the blind on a local radio station. Hank loved to shock people by saying that he met his best friend, Clayton Martin, in jail. It turns out they were both there doing income taxes for inmates.

He is survived by his second wife, Jacqui; a son, Richard ’72; daughter Judith; and six grandchildren, including Caitlin Shaw ’97.
