David L. Huber ’70

One of our most influential communicators, Dave died of prolonged cardiovascular disease Sept. 14, 2024.

He came to us from Belleville, Ill. (a lifelong Cardinals fan) and was an enthused history major. His thesis for professor Gaines Post addressed “American Communism and the Negro.” Writing was his passion; he also wrote for Princeton Alumni Weekly and served with distinction as editor-in-chief of The Daily Princetonian in an explosive era when the paper heavily influenced the attitudes and student behavior on campus.

Following Navy ROTC, he served on submarines for four years. Then he went to law school at Case Western and immediately to White & Case, where he spent his legal career in corporate finance, principally in Tarrytown, N.Y.; he and his family developed deep roots, serving on library and historical society boards until his death. Always active with Princeton, he served as our class treasurer and with Annual Giving and the Alumni Schools Committee. His orderly mind made him a superb bridge partner and a fearsome fantasy baseball foe.

Dave is survived by his wife, Gwenn; and their son, Nathaniel. We hope they join us, rejoicing in the strength and judgment he brought to our years together, and its immense influence on all our lives.
