James F. Card ’65

Jim died March 16, 2026, in Endicott, N.Y.

He was a 1961 graduate of Vestal High School and the student government president.

At Princeton, he majored in chemical engineering, played varsity baseball, and was a member of the Key Club. He ate his meals Cannon Club. Jim roomed with Rudi Seitz, Karl Petersen, and Phil Erkenbrack. Upon graduation, Jim went to work at U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh followed by IBM, where he spent the remainder of his career.

Jim was a brilliant professional, a tireless reader, consumer of knowledge, and he remained active in several organizations throughout the years. He truly enjoyed coaching the Vestal Stars girls travel soccer team for many years. He was a kind and wonderful father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle, cousin, neighbor, and friend, blessed with many lifelong friendships. He was always steady and dependable, a role model and father-figure to so many throughout the years — a true class act.

Jim is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Sandra; daughters Leslie (Peter), Cathrine, and Suzanne; seven grandchildren; and sister, Susan Pollock (John). The class extends our condolences to his family.
