Patrick J. Niedermeyer ’73

Pat died March 6, 2026, in Kansas City, Mo., following a brief illness. He was 75.

Born in St. Louis, Pat attended St. Louis Priory, where he took part in basketball, track, cross country, and baseball.

At Princeton, he roomed with Jeff Roberts, Tom Finney, Michael Mills, Chris Monroe, Bill Sampson, and Jim Isenberg in Patton Hall. Freshman year he ran track and cross country, and junior year he played on a team that won an intramural basketball championship. He loved playing his bongos and was known as a real prankster. He majored in chemical engineering and wrote his senior thesis under Professor Richard Toner.

Pat began his career teaching mathematics and coaching high school sports at the Forman School in Litchfield, Conn. He later became a computer programmer and was a systems analyst for MetLife.

Beyond his professional life, Pat was a master storyteller and a quintessential host who found great joy in gathering family and friends at his favorite restaurants, sharing good food and laughter even into his final days.

Pat was predeceased by his brother George. He is survived by sisters Anne Malinowski, Mary Mills, and Jeanne Layton; and brothers Michael Edward and Brian Gerard.

A man of sharp wit and immense kindness, Pat will be remembered for his dedication to education and his legendary sense of humor.
