Looking very snazzy in their crisp uniforms are 1950 classmates and University Band members, from left, Art Leidheiser, Addison Goble, and Ralph Cardello. Leidheiser and Cardello were roommates. According to the Nassau Herald, Goble was the band’s assistant manager during his junior and senior years. Goble died in 2009. His son, A. Spence Goble, found this photo, dated 1948, among his father’s papers. Leidheiser died in 1998. Cardello lives in Morristown, N.J. A formal marching band when these students participated, the band had evolved into a full-fledged scramble (or scatter) band by the 1970s.
