This personal real-life tale takes place within the tumultuous background of 92 years of American history – and indeed of world history. The author served in the Navy at fairly high levels of responsibility, as well as in universities where his expertise in Asian affairs led to many insightful journeys into conflict zones.

While often delving into intense historic situations, the author tells his story with lightness and humor. Dick was an identical twin in a British-immigrant family – and throughout his long life he struggled to balance professional service with personal passions and friendships.

“Writing this memoir has been a literary journey, exposing many unexpected insights. I hope you enjoy reading this memoir as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it.”
