In the ’50s Princeton was still somewhat Calvinist in spirit. In the ’60s Marxism became more prevalent. The advantage of both Calvinism and Marxism is that they are based on real intellectual effort and on wide learning, their errors notwithstanding. But today on campuses including Princeton, the dominant “philosophy” is simply mindless leftism and ignorant populism. And populism is the socialism (and also perhaps the religiosity) of fools.
