It was during a Princeton summer program at the Mpala Research Center in Kenya that I first began playing the New York Times crossword. Internet service was limited, so I’d download the puzzle, and a group of six of us would huddle around the breakfast table, working through the clues. Three years after, my basketball teammate and I celebrated the completion of the Saturday puzzle on the bus after an autumn scrimmage. Fast forward to the present, and most work days end with a team game of Wordle or Connections. Puzzles and games are a big part of my life. So much so that I was inspired to create my own daily word game, Word Game Gaps. Princeton instilled in me both a love of games, and the self-possession needed to create new things in this world, so it’s been fulfilling getting to combine those two aspects of myself in this process. Furthermore, it’s great to read about my fellow Princeton gamers excelling across a wide spectrum of games themselves!
