A long time ago, I was walking across the main floor of Jadwin Gymnasium, squash racket in hand, about to head downstairs to the squash courts. The rock band Chicago was playing Jadwin that night, and the basketball floor was completely covered in tarpaulins. A crew was at work on a stage across the way. I spotted basketball coach Pete Carril, sitting on a bleacher, watching things and looking kind of glum. He saw me, and he asked, "Did they take your floor away from you, too?"
