Mark Bernstein ’83’s interview with Jim Leach was well done; I wish Leach success in his attempts to bring civility into political discourse. My one quibble with the report was Bernstein’s reference to “the recent Supreme Court decision striking down limits on corporate campaign contributions.” That decision struck down limits on both corporate and union contributions to campaigns. The burgeoning war chests of organizations like the National Education Association and Service Employees International Union — when paired with the relative docility of the dues-paying members — should not be overlooked in reporting on campaign finance.
