Explaining Physics for Lay Audiences

Tony’s books explaining modern physics for lay people are among the best and clearest in a crowded field. Tony is able to describe difficult and nonintuitive ideas using diagrams, art, humor, and when necessary, a bit of math. Fearful Symmetry: The Search for Beauty in Modern Physics is a classic and the place to start, and Princetonians will appreciate the poetic reference to tigers. For the advanced reader, there are hefty textbooks such as Einstein Gravity in a Nutshell (888 pages, 4.37 pounds).
