The January Cuba trip was fantastic. There were abundant opportunities to speak with and learn from many different strata of Cuban society. This was a gratifying and fascinating way to come full circle — from studying Cuba and its disproportionate influence on U.S. domestic and foreign policy as a ’77 SPIA undergrad Latin American studies major to finally experiencing the country’s contradictions, complexities, and charms “on the ground” in ’25.
