Fellows in Africa

Thank you for publishing the thorough piece on Princeton-in-Africa by P.G. Sittenfeld ’07 (Notebook, Feb. 3). I would add two points: In our interviews for next year’s fellows from the Class of 2010, two of the most highly qualified Princeton seniors applying for fellowships spent time as refugees themselves in refugee camps in Africa before arriving in the United States. Second, in recent years a great deal of the support (both time and money) for this largely alumni-supported program has come from members of younger classes such as, among others, Leon Kalvaria ’79, Schuyler Roach Heuer ’96, David Huntington ’89, Holly Schade ’91, Blair Blackwell ’96, and Derek Schrier ’89.
