Richard Halliburton 1921 has recently appeared several times in PAW in regard to the amazing travel adventures in his very short life.
My father, Chuck Carpenter, was a friend and classmate of his at both Lawrenceville and Princeton, where he kept a "Guest Book" in his dorm room. As students dropped by to see him, they wrote short messages in that book. Here is one that Halliburton wrote a hundred years ago:

Chuck saw her stepping from her car,
and to her side he sped.
"May I assist you to alight."
"I do not smoke," she said.
